A Private Mountain Community
Our community is made up of individual lots connected by a web of gravel roads that are privately owned and maintained by the Rag Mountain Estates Owners Association--to which we all belong. Through RMEOA, members enjoy the use of two common areas--our one acre pond for fishing and swimming and a pasture area for hiking and birdwatching.
Our History
In 1967, developers from Maryland purchased land to create a place for people in the region who wanted an escape to the mountains. The original 60 acres was purchased from the Shotwell Family who have lived on this land for generations. The community currently has 40 property owners and four full time residences.
